  1. Sorry, I did not budget for that. My favorite part is the end. “We’ll need you to show us how you made it so we can do it on our own in house from now on”.

Note to self: Always include hours for “training” in contract!

  2. That is hysterical! So true too.
I am slowly but surely learning ways to avoid the endless phone calls and emails that keep asking me for just one small thing , and to just fix one tiny thing, and can I please just help with….
I now tell my clients I have a two hour training package they can buy when we are done with the blog, or website or whatever and to save their questions for that two hour period.
So far so good. But I still have clients who say they can’t pay right now, or can they break it up after I am all done, and yet they tell me how they just paid a photographer or internet guru big bucks.

  3. Amazing how all freelancers seem to have the same clients!

I am learning that slowly too. Each contract gets a little longer and a lot more specific. I really like the idea of a training package. Will have to try that one soon.

  4. OMG – how TRUE is this video?! Yep, my contract keeps getting longer, more specific, etc. and I, too, have a client who is a multimillionaire who “loves and appreciates” the work that I do for him yet griped about how much I charged to produce his last newsletter…somehow he keeps ignoring the 2 other print jobs included in that invoice. Guess that’s how he got so darn rich – being very stingy.

  5. that is amazing, i wish people would see this so they know how people just want to get stuff for free nowadays. it is pretty sadly true. it will be a long time before people quit trying to screw people over like that. hilarious though.
